I picked up two tomatillo seedlings from CERES the other week and was pretty excited to plant them. I put them in pots and I've been treating them pretty much like tomato plants, but they're behaving a little oddly. They're growing very tall and spindly, with leaves just at the top. Is that normal for tomatillos? I wouldn't know.

Meanwhile, epic whitefly infestation in the garden. They're living in the clover/grass/etc, actually more than in the vegies and herbs. Not sure what to do about them. I soap-sprayed the vegies and herbs I was worried about, but I don't think it'll help much if they're living in the grass. Oh well, can't hurt.

Tomatoes have their first fruit, as do the zucchini. I hope the zukes are fertilised right. Last year we had a lot of sad little mini-zucchinis that dropped off. Cucumber plants are sloooooow but are starting to perk up a bit and flower. Chard is coming along nicely and we're eating it intermittently. Choko (aka chayote) sprouted in the cupboard and I've stick it in a hole near the back fence where the neighbour's put a trellis so there's plenty for it to grow up. Think that's about it for now.
