PermalinkGoogle: "how to tell if cucumbers are ripe"
Answer: better early than late; as soon as the skin is dark green (assuming it's a dark green variety) it can be picked. If it starts to yellow or get mushy, you waited too long.
"how to tell if green zebra tomatoes are ripe"
The whitish stripes turn yellow.
Conclusion: I should pick the cucumber, but not the tomato.
Next year, I will use Growstuff to actually record what I plant so I know what variety of cucumber it is, and hence how big it's meant to be. REVOLUTIONARY!

Zebra tomatoes?
Wow, the things you learn.
Yes, I have been waiting for a way to say that since you posted this.
They're green, and stripy. Like a green zebra. Just imagine a green zebra that's the shape of a tomato, and that's basically it.
