PermalinkThere is lots of purslane growing wild near here, along the tram tracks. Just recently I've seen a few plants pop up in my garden, and was delighted, because the ones along the tram track probably have a lot of traffic exhaust all over them and I'd rather not eat them. But the volunteers in my garden are in an awkward spot, and I'd rather they were elsewhere. I'm wondering how best to transplant or propagate them. Most websites seem to treat it as a weed and talk more about getting rid of it than nurturing it. Anyone got any tips?
ETA: here's a good blog post about purslane: http://www.littleecofootprints.com/2011/01/urban-foraging-for-purslane-.html

Answering my own post:
I picked a bunch of what was in my garden, with the intent of making a salad. I rinsed it then patted it dry in a tea-towel. It left black specks everywhere, and for a moment I thought it was dirt and that I needed to rinse it more, until I realised it was tiny seeds. They were everywhere. So I made my salad, then went out and shook the tea-towel over the bit of garden where I want purslane to be. Here's hoping!
purslane is a cute word, reminds me of the purse-of-gold dumplings i adore
